New Year, New Project...Well Almost New Year

A new year brings new challenges, new resolutions and new ideas and to kick off 2013 I have decided I am going to go with a new hobby. No I have no desire to start up knitting, Jogging or fencing but I am pondering the idea of up cycling. I’m not some kind or eco warrior (I try to recycle but it just doesn’t happen) I am a little obsessed with the whole Shabby chic, vintage, pretty pastels thing (my sister says my house looks like a Unicorn has eaten a Cath Kidston shop and threw up) and I am loving old furniture made new. 1. I am saving the environment one welsh dresser at a time 2. Old furniture is made so much better than all this flat pack mass produced stuff 3. Character, when I got my first house, five of my friends all had the same Malm Coffee table form Ikea 4. Vintage is cheap if you do it right and are willing to do the work yourself. 5. Its fun!
I'll be posting a few pics of some of my furniture when I get home... So keep an eye out.

Like any new project I’m not starting small, no! I am making a… wait for it… a shoe cupboard! Yes, I’ve always been told to dream big! So here is the plan…
I have been given a grotty wardrobe, it’s made from Melamine, but it is surprisingly sturdy (I know what I said about Character, but I believe I can add this!) So far I have removed the doors here’s the exciting part. I am going to paint the outside with Annie Sloan Paint (Annie Sloan is a chalk paint witch apparently sticks to anything and they come in a range or fab vintage colours) I have Provence for the inside, the outside is going to be painted in Original (a vintage cream) then I am going to wall paper the back in pretty vintage floral’s, add a row of shelves and some hooks and Voila! A Fabulously, vintage, shoe cupboard your friends will be jealous of!
I will post a pic of the wardrobe when I get home. I’ll post regularly on my progress (unless I fail epically and then you will never hear about this ‘Hobby’ again!)

What do you guys think of up cycling?

CHRISTMAS IS OVER

Today is my first day back at work :(  the sign that for me the festivities are almost over and its time to get back to reality (and begin worrying about my NYE outfit, My Leather dress hasn’t arrived yet! YIKES) so today I’ve hit the sales. To be honest I haven’t been that impressed! However, I did get a little Shopping Envy when I saw I girl walk out of Topshop with three bag full’s. It took every ounce of restraint not to stab her with my heel!

The only thing I did buy was a pair or Swarovski covered heels for my sister’s 21st.(not for me to wear, FOR HER) Most of the shops I went into looked like a jumble sale, I’m not going to lie TOPSHOP looked like it was the film set for a Post Apocalypse movie! I’m not one to rummage on the floor for bargains not unless it was a half price Louboutin Sale!
Hope you all got what you wanted!

Last Minute Wrapping

I'm watching The Santa clause, I have a box of Celebrations (which I have almost eaten) and I'm  wrapping my last few presents. I'm about to make a Bailey's hot chocolate when I realise I haven't bought my Dad a present! I know! I'm an awful daughter! I really don't know how it happened... maybe I got carried away buying gifts for myself! So what am I supposed to do? I really don't think I can brave the high street, Its going to be madness! So after subtly asking him what he wants I've ordered him a present online from MAPLIN of all places! The great thing is, I've ordered it online and I can just pick it up from store! So panic over.  Hot Chocolate is back on and Dad doesn't need to know he was a last minute wonder!

Make Up Review - Japonesque Beauty Fixation

I have a pack of tinted lip conditioner by BEAUTY FIXATION to be honest when I got them I thought they were going to be naff. They are essentially ear buds with liquid inside them! How wrong was I? They are easy to use, (basically you snap one end and the nourishing conditioner automatically soaks into the end of the swab that's still attached) At first my lips felt rather greasy then after a moment they dry and your lips feel much softer. The colour was subtle, and gave lips a smooth sheen.
To really test these bad boys I gave five to my friend who suffers with dry lips, especially in winter. I told her to use one a day. She instantly noticed a difference. The swabs come in a small case, easy to carry around in your handbag. All in all they are a rather unique product, not many of my friends had heard of them, they're not the most glamorous, but they do exactly what they say on the pack and for that  beauty fixation I applaud you!

River Island Sale

So I have been mooching at the River Island Sale. Unfortunately I've been working today so its all been online, however, I tend to find I get the best deals online. You don't have to rummage through the dishevelled rails or threaten to stab anyone with your heel if they don't hand over the last pair of jeans over.
So here are list of my buys today

Hope you like
H x
Grey Foil Pencil Skirt - was £20.00 now £7.00 - BARGAIN!
It will look fab for work.

Red Sequin Oversized Blazer, was £60.00 now £25.00 - This was the saving of the day.
I'm going to be rocking this on NYE with the Leather dress which was only £25.00 - reduced from £50.00 - This is what I love about River, the SALES are awesome!

Love this leather look dress, especially the stud details. I'm hoping Santa will bring me the the CJG Ankle Boots from TOPSHOP CJG £165.00 to finnish off my look!
Excited! bring on NYE!!

Beauty Box

I don't know about you but I have been hearing a lot about Beauty boxes recently. What are they you may ask? Well, they are the most amazing thing, basically the idea is you subscribe to a Beauty Box, there are loads out there to choose from, I've recently joined GLOSSYBOX and each month they send you four or five Beauty products through the post. I know genius right! Well I should get my first box anytime now, so I'll give it a full review once it arrives. A few of the girls have subscribtions to a few others such as SHE SAID BEAUTY £11.95 per month and LUX BOX £12.95 per month.

After a lot of too-ing and through-ing Glossybox definitely seemed like the best option, its reasonably priced at just £12.95, its comes beautifully packed and the range of brands are anything from BURTS BEES to BURBERRY BEAUTY and everything in-inbetween. But what really made Glossybox stand out was the limited edition boxes they do every few months, the last one being a HARRODS box.

No need to feel pressured into signng up to a contract you can cancel your Glossybox subscription at anytime, although why would you?

Christmas!!!

So Christmas is almost here and I can’t wait for the big day! After a very stressful week of Christmas shopping and a now very poor bank balance I'm almost done. The gifts are wrapped (beautifully if I may add) in pink polka dots and pastel striped wrapping paper, not the most festive but it looks pretty!

Now all I have to do is decide on what to wear?

I am all for traditions, and as a rule Mother dear usually buys us a festive jumper (cheesy I know) and I actually cannot wait.
Here a few of my personal faves, hope you take note Mum!

ASOS Penguin Jumper £35.00
Comes in both Red and cream

Topshop Polar Bear Jumper £50.00

Newlook Candy cane Jumper £24.99

Newlook Plus size Inspire Grey Reindeer Jumper £24.99
Lauren Conrad Rocking the Christmas Jumper

You can get this LOT78 Jumper at NET-A-PORTER only £220 if your feeling flush! (Little bit gutted I won't be getting this one on Christmas Day)
